Reading

Reading is a constant concern of parents and teachers alike. Interest in reading has traditionally dropped off, with boys especially, in Year 7 but with social media now playing a more significant role in the lives of our youngsters, reading books can be even more of a struggle from a much younger age. Changes in pace of our world and innumerable distractions means that focus is tested to a new level. While I cannot promise to turn your child into an avid reader, we can look at strategies to make improvements in reading habits.

Broadly speaking reading skills are broken into two areas, text level and word level, and your child's school may already test for this. With the right data we can look at how to work on improving the aspects of reading that may be hindering the progress of your child.
