Having 'retired' this year from the role of Head of English at Millfield Prep School, to move to Bath and adjust to a more relaxed work~life balance, I am now offering online tutoring in English and literacy. Over the last fourteen years at MPS, I have worked with juniors to Year 8 and many nationalities. Previous to that, I taught GCSE and A'level and have run two other English departments.
I have a proven track record, in every school I have worked in, of stretch and challenge, boosting confidence, captivating reluctant readers and writers and raising attainment in English. I have worked successfully with children with a wide-range of learning differences including - most commonly - dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. Parents praise me for really getting to know and understand their children as individuals, finding what what works for them and their learning style. I am also known for my love of tetchy teens!
With plenty of experience of teaching online, I am able to deliver engaging lessons and understand the advantages of online learning and digital platforms. I have a balance of techniques that means your child will be able to use both digital means and more traditional methods depending on suitability to task and other requirements.
I have loved teaching children of all ages, it has been my passion and joy throughout my career. From the challenge of a new class in September to the satisfaction of the progress made at year end, I have enjoyed every moment.
